The time for sitting back is long over.

  • May. 26th, 2009 at 10:28 AM

The time for sitting back and saying that society isn't ready is over.

There needs to be riots.

There needs to be walkouts from work.

There needs to be sit-ins and every from of civil disobedience.

I'm sorry, but the court is not going to protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. (a minute one at that)

African-americans had to riot and be active to get their rights.

This makes me so ashamed to be from California.

If we don't stand up for our rights, no one will.

I think I am going to cry.

When do I get to vote on your marriages, straight people?

and Arkansas voted to ban gay adoption. Our country is screwd and taking steps backward as we speak.

It's enough to make one want to leave.

The icing on the cake is that my own father who knows that I am engaged voted for prop 8.
I wish that I could say that I could be friends with and ok with people who voted this way. I don't care what else they voted for, but as soon as they voted to take away my rights then I'm sorry but I just can't respect them.

I am back. I am at school right now. I had time to drop off my things this morning and then come to school. I am going on about 3 hours of sleep in the last 36 hours and counting and I think I have to stay at school till at least 7 but don't quote me. I am trying so hard not fall asleep and i can't have any more caffiene because I had three energy drinks to keep me up on the drive from san diego last night/ this morning. I came over Pacheco pass at just before dawn this morning and got to dublin bart at about 7:15 to head home and drop stuff. I'll update about the trip later. It was awesome.

The show is as old as I am and I am going to see it where it started...

That's right, I am seeing Phantom of the Opera here in london!!!! We got cheap tickets this morning and we are sitting in the dress circle!!!!!!

Now off to eat and get ready. by the way it is only 6pm here.

London after day 2...

  • Mar. 24th, 2008 at 8:27 AM

In Bullet form for speed.

- Saw the King Tut exhibit. (cool but didn't have his sarcophigus or mask)

- Went to Tower of London but it was closed when we got there. (Going today)

- Went to British National Museum but it was so full we cuoldn't move. (going again sometime that is not Easter sunday)

- It Snowed. Then it cleared up.

- Found a gay bar and went and had fun.

- Flirted with a really hot bartender from the czeck rep. He has my eamil and said we should hang out sometime this week. (Could be fun)

- All three of us made friends with a cool guy from austria who is living here. We are all going to hang out on tuesday night.

- The tube system rocks!!!

-More later.

(Yes Edward, the trip to the bar means I had something other than Guiness. Besides shots of vodka also had Magners cider. They didn't have sweet & Sour so no midori sours for me.)

London after day 1...

  • Mar. 23rd, 2008 at 9:22 AM

So got in to London proper at about 10 in the morning yesterday. Checked into the "Palmer's Lodge" (Hostel), locked up our bags (as we couldn't get into the room till 2) and started wandering. The weather here couldn't decide what to do. Every ten minutes it was changing from sunny to raining to snowing to windy back to snow to sunny... and well you get the idea. Yes it is very cold. But IT'S FREAKIN LONDON MAN!!!!!!

Walked out of the westminster tube station a little after that. We didn't know what to expect... All the sudden we emerge from under ground and... SMACK! There was Parliament and Big Ben and Westminster Abbey and the London Eye and the thames. We haven't gone into Westminster yet cause it was holy saturday and there were "kilometers" of people around it (note my stunning use of the metric system. Please insert the standard measurement to complete the phrase.)

After wandering for a while we went back and checked in. We have free internet access here at the hostel (obviously). We went back out and then Jess was so tired (3 hours of sleep in the last 48) she was actually getting ill :( .Kara and I took her back to the hostel then went back out for dinner. We got of at the picadilly train station to find something and wandered till we found the London of chinatown. We had dinner for 7 pounds each at this small place that sat you at a large table with other people as well. The food was ok but not amazing. (nothing on Eliza's in SF) but still ok. More food then we could eat. So we have to decide what we are going to do today but it should be awesome.

Did I mention it is snowing? Well it just stopped but hey. Whatever. I'd rather be here with it snowing than not be here. I'll update more later.

This is some bad and crazy stuff. And not in a good way. I saw this on a friends lj. People like this should so not be in elected offices.

You know you're a college student when...

You use a tea kettle to steam your slacks because you don't have an iron or steamer.

Your place is almost always cluttered.

You were going to study and then realized that you haven't ripped the cd's with the study material on them.

in other news:

You are The Magician

Skill, wisdom, adaptation. Craft, cunning, depending on dignity.

Eleoquent and charismatic both verbally and in writing,
you are clever, witty, inventive and persuasive.

The Magician is the male power of creation, creation by willpower and desire. In that ancient sense, it is the ability to make things so just by speaking them aloud. Reflecting this is the fact that the Magician is represented by Mercury. He represents the gift of tongues, a smooth talker, a salesman. Also clever with the slight of hand and a medicine man - either a real doctor or someone trying to sell you snake oil.

What Daniel Rodriguez-Martin Means

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row.
You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace.
People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.
You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.
You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something.
You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense.
You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life.
You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone.
Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way.
And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You are incredibly wise and perceptive. You have a lot of life experience.
You are a natural peacemaker, and you are especially good at helping others get along.
But keeping the peace in your own life is not easy. You see things very differently, and it's hard to get you to budge.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

epiphany?

Is it really as simple as realizing we are not going to get back together? I am all the sudden in a very "zen" place. It doesn't hurt any less or suck and less but it feels manageable all of the sudden. This is strange. I know I was saying all week that we are probably not going to get back together and that it would be foolish to hope, but I don't think I actually believed it. Now all the sudden I was walking outside my school and just kind of stopped and thought "is it really that simple?". I wonder where this frame of mind will take me.
